Winemaking

The fruit was whole cluster pressed, and the juice was then settled and racked to a stainless steel tank, where it was fermented for thirty days at low temperatures. Fermentation was halted using a
chiller, and the wine was then aged an additional two months sur lie before being racked, lightly
bentonite fined, cold stabilized with chilling and cream of tartar, filtered, and bottled.

Vineyard Sites

Sunnyside Vineyard (South Salem Hills) 100% Own-rooted old-vine Riesling planted in 1970, ~
700 ft in elevation on south-facing slops in east-to-west rows in Jory and Nekia volcanic soils.
Family owned and farmed by Luci Wisniewski and Tom Owen, LIVE Certified Sustainable.

Vintage Notes

2020 began with a cool, wet spring. Budbreak was tracking in a normal pattern, while rain during
bloom caused yields to be lower than normal - focusing concentration of berry and flavor
development. A cooler than normal July and August helped the fruit ripen slowly and evenly, with
a heat bump in the first week of September to help finish out the year.

Tasting Notes

This single vineyard, old vine bottling from the South Salem Hills is a classic, terroir-revealing
Riesling. Pale gold in color with orange hues, this dry wine opens with tropical notes of starfruit and
lychee with vibrant notes of apricot and jasmine. The palate oers mouthwatering acidity and lush
flavors of key lime, peach and honeysuckle. The finish shows tremendous energy with subtle hints
of petrol and spice. This wine is a delight to drink now, but also exceedingly age-worthy.
